I Look to Thee
I Look to Thee
Verse 1
In utter dark, I sing of Thee
“Although He slay me! was Job’s cry.
As Abraham with Isaac climbed,
So confident up Mount Moriah!
In utter dark my Savior died.
Thou unassuagld by kindly word,
He bled, impaled, my sacrifice,
Well pleasing off’ring to the Lord!
Verse 2
In utter dark, I sing of Thee
“Set as a flint, Thy will to do.
God cannot die. His oath is sure.
I take thy promises so true..
In utter dark on Calvary
By faith Christ hung in bold relief:
A portrait of God’s holy love
And man’s determined unbelief.
Verse 3
In utter dark I sing of Thee
(My faith a gift)
A gift is coming for the world;
The night is coming for the world,
And faith by some will be demid,
In utter dark, our Lord was true.
Suspended on the cruel tree,
Alone Christ died without regret,
Remitting sin’s givin penalty.
Chorus
In utter dark, I sing of Thee
To praise Thee, Lord, brings joy.
Though all around he black as night,
The faith God gives none can destroy.
